A marriage prayer
Heavenly Father,
Nothing in the heavens or on the earth compares to Your glory. You are the Holy One, the First, the Last, the Origin of everything. Your love is infinite, and Your peace goes beyond all understanding. I praise You and thank You for Your mercy, Your grace, Your patience, and Your wisdom. I love You and I lay my life at Your feet. I am a servant whom You regard as a son—a slave You regard as an heir. Thank You for the gift of life, thank You for the gift of salvation, and thank You for recognizing that it is not good for man to be alone.
Thank You for hearing my pleading prayers for a wife. Thank You for answering them in such an unreasonably lavish fashion. Thank You for the wife You gave me. She sees my faults and loves me in spite of them. She knows my needs and meets them when she can. She understands my humanity and embraces me wholly. Her love for me is sweeter than anything I can imagine. My love for her is stronger and bigger than I ever thought possible. Help me to be the husband she deserves. Help me to love her as Christ loved the church. Help me to be the kind of leader You intended, to keep my family close to You, and to live a life that demonstrates Your love. You are the only God, and the only One worthy of praise.
